Nuclear Power Globally Resurgent

Nuclear power is enjoying a revival as governments around the world look for ways to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels and cut greenhouse gas emissions. Last month, Sweden reversed years of opposition by allowing the construction of new nuclear reactors. Italy, which closed its last two nuclear plants after the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident in 1986, now plans to build up to 10 new reactors, and Finland is currently building facilities for long-term nuclear waste storage. Supporters claim that nuclear is the only large-scale technology capable of generating zero emission power.
