Nuclear Power Surge

06 March 2009
Italy and France will build at least 4 nuclear plants on Italian territory. The first plant is expected to start running in 2020. Five additional reactors might be built on the French territory. This is a turnaround for the Italians who rejected nuclear power in a 1987 in a referendum and closed Italian plants operating at that time. France, on the contrary, relies on nuclear energy for almost 80% of its supply, and is the world's largest net exporter of electricity. UK is also planning to build new reactors and Germany might follow it.
