Online Air Quality Monitoring

Sweden has developed an Internet-based service which is capable of providing information on air pollution at street level. It is named SIMAIR and it can assess concentration levels for fine particles, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and benzene. Legislative measures have been taken in Sweden which require local authorities to monitor air quality in areas where pollution might be above certain thresholds. SIMAIR is at the moment used only in Sweden, but it is an important study case, and might be taken by other countries as well.
