Opposition to Czech Power Plant

31 August 2009
Czech utility giant CEZ's proposal to build an 841 megawatt gas-fired power plant in the Ustecky region of the Czech Republic has met with opposition. The region’s deputy governor Arno Fisera claims that the plant would increase pollution. Construction is scheduled to begin next year, so that the plant can begin generating electricity in 2013. It also has a proposal to construct a gas-powered plant in Poland.
