Organic and Biotech Farming

Investment in both GM crops and organic farming could help ensure a reliable food supply in the future, claims a Deutsche Bank report. Population growth, increased wealth and biofuels demand are putting pressure on food production, it says. Furthermore, simply relying on fertilisers, irrigation and mechanisation could cause water shortages and carbon emissions. Organic farming has the potential of reduce the environmental impact of farming, while biotech crops could help meet the growing demand for productivity growth.
