Packaging Chemicals Linked to Obesity

Chemicals used in food packaging, such as phthalates, could be linked to childhood obesity, says a new study. A team of researchers found that the heaviest children in the survey had the highest levels of packaging chemicals in their urine. Earlier findings indicated that phthalates could be associated with abdominal obesity, insulin resistance and poor semen. Phthalates are found in a variety of packaging products.
