Pesticide Smuggling

The European Crop Protection Association expert estimates that 5-7% of pesticides sold in the EU are illegal. The pesticides are believed to be smuggled into the EU from China through Eastern European criminal networks. Illegal pesticides do however not necessarily cause health hazards. Spain is particularly touched by this problem but other countries including Poland, the Baltic States, Bulgaria, Italia, Greece, France and Denmark are also concerned.
