Polish Candy Taken Off UK Shelves

20 April 2009
UK supermarkets have withdrawn a brand of Polish confectionery from their stores after it was discovered that the product was not sufficiently labelled. The product, Storck Nimm 2, contains sweetened condensed milk and whey powder, which are powerful allergens for people intolerant of milk or milk products. These ingredients are not indicated in English on the label. This situation was brought to the attention of the UK’s Food Standards Agency, which intervened and launched an allergy alert to warn people who could potentially be at risk from eating the product.
