Portugal has opened its first ‘eco-hospital’, called the Curry Cabral, in Lisbon. A system created by TÜV Rheinland means that the building is designed to use 20% less water and 30% less electricity. Awareness raising measures have also been implemented in order to make staff more conscious of their impact on the environment. Other hospitals are studying the project carefully with a view to adopting similar measures in their own buildings.
