Red Meat Health Labels

02 July 2009
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) wants to see labelling on red meat and dairy products that would advise people not to eat meat more than 3 times a week and dairy products not more than 3 times a day. WWF claims this would have a positive impact on health and the environment. A co-author of the WWF report says that the British eat 70% more meat and 40% more dairy than what is advised. Meat associations have responded by saying that while their industry does indeed have a carbon footprint which needs to be tackled, the industry also brings social and economic benefits that should not be ignored.
