Road Safety at Work in Ireland

One third of all road accidents are caused by drivers who are using their vehicle for work, an international conference on road safety at work was told. The conference, hosted by the Road Safety Authority and the Health and Safety Authority of Ireland, provided research and statistics on work related road trauma as well as successful employer case studies. The Road Safety Authority said that managing staff safety while driving made good business sense, especially in the current economic climate as it protects staff and business profits. Over 40% of Irish businesses have no driving for work policy as part of their health and safety management system.
