Sailor Loses Hand in Sicily

A 33 year old seaman lost his hand while mooring the Liberian vessel Coral Pavona in the port of Augusta, Sicily. It was sliced by the gear system used to secure the ship. Emergency services reacted immediately to the accident and took him to hospital, where doctors operated to reattach the limb. The next couple of days will tell whether he will recover full use of his arm.
