Slovenia Foreign Workers Bill

18 June 2009
Slovenia has introduced a bill introducing certain restrictions on the employment of foreign workers. The Decree on Restrictions and Prohibition of Employment and Work of Aliens was signed earlier this week, and follows report of instances of abuse of the country’s Employment and Work of Aliens Act. Slovenian authorities have been informed that many third-country nationals with Slovenian residence permits have entered other countries, where they work as undeclared labour. This, say authorities, has employment as well as health and safety implications. Unemployment in Slovenia has been growing since September 2008.
