Solar Power Potential in Wales

14 April 2009
North Wales has strong potential to become a centre for solar energy and research, claimed a Welsh University professor. Speaking at a conference organised by the UK section of the International Solar Energy Society, Professor Stuart Irvine said that Wales’ solar industry remains an untapped source of both energy and employment. He pointed to the fact that Welsh universities have carried out significant research into solar power. The professor also claimed that around 1,000 new jobs could be created by 2011 in Wales, and that up to 12,000 new jobs could be created by 2025.
