Spain: Concern Over Fishing Pact

The owners of several fishing companies in Spain have warned that a Partnership Agreement with several Pacific countries will devastate the domestic fishing and canning sector. Leading industrialists warn that the agreement, which will allow tuna to be imported without tariffs, will lead to ‘an open door to fish of dubious origin’. Spain is the world’s second leading producer of canned tuna after Thailand, overtaking the US two years ago.
