Spain Proposes to Ban Food Toys

Spain is debating whether to ban restaurants and food manufacturers from including toys and prizes with their products. The backers of the proposal claim that the move is designed to tackle rising childhood obesity rates. Spain has the highest incidence of overweight boys and the third highest rate of overweight girls in the EU. The proposal is still subject to modification and congressional approval. Furthermore, a vote has not yet been scheduled on the bill.
