Stern Backs Vegetarianism

In an interview with London’s Times newspaper, Nicholas Stern, the author of the influential 2006 Stern Review on the cost of tackling global warming, has urged people to eat less meat as a means to reduce global carbon emissions. He told The Times that ‘meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases’. His remarks have been criticised by Britain’s National Farmers’ Union.
