A prominent German food critic has accused the man often described as the world’s best chef, Ferran Adria of the restaurant El Bulli in Barcelona of unintentionally poisoning his diners with the additives he uses. Adria has won multiple awards, included three coveted Michelin stars, with his groundbreaking ‘molecular gastronomy’, however the colorants, gelling agents and emulsifiers used in his cooking have led to calls that his meals should carry health warnings. According to the critic’s calculations, a single visit to El Bulli can account for 16% of an individual’s annual additive intake.
