Truck Loading a Safety Risk

The health of workers loading merchandise onto trucks is being put at risk because of poor safety standards, says the UK’s Health & Safety Executive (HSE). In the last 3 years, 14 people have died and more than 2,000 people have been injured because of cargo falling from vehicles being loaded or unloaded. Three quarters of trucks examined in random stop-checks on UK roads were recently found to be not loaded safely. HSE officials and the Vehicle Operator Services Agency (VOSA) say that the proportion of vehicles found to be unsafe is alarmingly high.
