Turkish Dairies and EU Standards

There is still much work to do for Turkey in order to bring its dairy sector in line with the standards of the European Union, claims a recent inspection report made by EU veterinary and food inspectors. Since 2001, no diary products can be imported from Turkey into the EU. Four milk processing plants in Turkey have asked for permission to do so, and three of them where visited by the EU inspectors. The plants revealed to respect standards on layout, equipment, maintenance and hygiene, but problems were found on traceability and water control.
