Unilever to Cut Salt Content
23 April 2009
Anglo-Dutch food giant Unilever has launched an initiative to cut salt in its products in order to help consumers reduce their salt intake to 5 grams of a day by 2015. This is the maximum level recommended by the World Health Organisation. The company specified that salt would be cut across the board, and not targeted only at specific individual products. Unilever says that many of its products will be reformulated using salt replacers and spices that act as taste enhancers.
