Urban Wastewater Law

Finland and Sweden are still not fully compliant with urban wastewater treatment rules, and could face penalties if they continue to flout the law, the Commission has warned. It says that 26 areas in Finland and 17 in Sweden are still not compliant. All EU Member States should have put in place wastewater treatment systems in areas with a population of over 2,000 by 31 December 2005.
