A new study has shown that consumer responses to health claims vary from country to country within Europe. The study asked consumers across Europe to complete questionnaires to establish their perceptions of food’s healthiness, and how their likelihood to buy could be affected. The study found that Italians are unswayed by healthy messages and images on foods, whereas the Finnish respond to medical pictures and British consumers are more likely to buy foods making even a weak health claim.
