Strong winds this weekend have led to record output for Spain’s wind farms – 53% of the country’s electricity needs were provided by wind power. Spain boasts the third largest amount of wind turbines in the world, after the US and Germany, and is planning to expand its sources of renewable energy with new solar and hydroelectric projects. Windfarms have outperformed all other forms of energy generation in Spain this month, beating gas into second place.
