Devices capable of tracking the gaze of workers could boost concentration and efficiency in the workplace, say researchers. This was one of a number of technological innovations on display at the Science Beyond Fiction conference in Prague this week. Other developments include seats that correct drivers’ postures in order to avoid musculoskeletal disorders and thought-navigated wheelchairs. This innovation could help break down barriers to disabled persons participating fully in the workplace. Steering wheels that sense when the driver or operator is sleepy are also in the process of development, and could be used eventually in high-risk occupational settings.
